third-fr

I was about to use a title with the term ‘Web 3.0′ in it, but my co-workers warned me : “Don’t do that Jerome, readers will make fun of you”….

So I’ve chosen this very classic title to talk about Third.fr (the .com extension is no longer available), a “third generation agenda” with Web 2.0 (sorry about that…) features.

Created in August by Jean-Nicolas Reyt and Guillaume Truttmann, two French students, Third.fr is an agenda in the first place, where people can add events in a similar fashion to any other online calendar (like Google Calendar or Upcoming). Third.fr is also a collaborative agenda, that users can share with other members (also like Google Calendar or Upcoming, I know). But Third.fr is different because it is a social network based on events with an algorithm that helps you find friends (unlike Google Calendar or Upcoming).

“Thanks to the data from your agenda, Third.fr is able to calculate your lifestyle and helps you find new friends who are into the same hobbies. For example, if most of your events are connected to sports, Third.fr will help you find people with the same interest”, explains Jean-Nicolas Reyt, co-founder of Third.fr.

Despite some Ajax errors and a heavy interface, Third.fr benefits from a really good buzz in the French blogosphere, helping this “social agenda” to gather more than 4500 members in less than a week. A pretty good start for that kind of service.
