The number one French blog platform, Skyblog.com is also the first French social network. According to a new study from ComScore, this subsidiary of Skyrock Networks now attracts more than 9.1 million French internet users each month, far beyond MySpace (2.2 M), Badoo.com (1,3 M), NetLog.com (0,827 M), Hi5.com (0,754 M), Lexode.com (0,675 M), Dada.net (0,495M), FaceBook.com (0,31 M), MSN Group (0,31 M) or Viadeo (0,27 M).

“Social networking sites are founded on their ability to allow Internet users to communicate quickly and informally with one another. The dominance of Skyrock Networks in France is a strong indication that language is a key factor. The provision of local language pages has allowed some of the multi-national sites to penetrate the French market as well.” explains Delphine Gatignol, comScore’s Business Development Manager for France.
To be honest, I’m a bit disappointed by this study. Firstly, I consider that SkyRock.com is a blog platform and not a “social network” even if its members can link to each other blogs. Second, I don’t understand why ComScore shows Badoo.com, a social network with a really bad reputation because they simply promote themselves by spamming your hotmail contacts.

Finally despite a 422 percent growth across the continent, Facebook still remains a small player in the French market even if many early adopters support it.

The ComScore ranking based on pageviews is as follows :
1. Skyrock
2. Netlog
3. Badoo
4. Myspace
5. Facebook
Jerome, I don’t see why Netlog should have a bad reputation? The site doesn’t spam contacts and has never done so. Netlog allows importing of contacts like most sites including LinkedIn and Facebook do. I know Badoo has a bad reputation for this, but Netlog??

Before the summer, Netlog was spamming hotmail contacts. They may have changed their policy but i’ve noticed that Badoo still do it. Honestly, i’m really surprised by ComScore figures about these sites.

Hey Jerome, I actually joined Badoo a couple weeks ago and then read your comments about their policies. So I made a test hotmail account to test out what would happen before I trusted my real one with them. As far as my experiment went, I was able to choose which contacts I sent invites to and which ones I didn’t. Maybe I just didn’t understand your comments, but everything works fine for me.
Which sites would you recommend me to check out?

I’ve got an Amazon gift certificate burning holes in my pocket,
and I want to get the most bang for my buck.
Enter the Secret Amazon Web Pages:
http://tinyurl.com/38sojf
This is where you’re going to find the “latest sales, rebates, and limited-time offers” from
Amazon, and you can score some pretty deep discounts if you’re a savvy shopper.
Next, there’s the special Sale link. This is open every Friday, and ONLY on Fridays.
You can find the same good discounts here as you would in hidden Deals, although some
Fridays you can really get lucky and make off like an Amazon bandit - I’ve seen discounts
there as low as 75% off sticker price.

Assuming either the Left Wing or the Right Wing gained control of the country, it would probably fly around in circles.
